Keylogger/Worm Found on Enpower PC

|

Hey all - I recently found some weird malware on a brand new, out of the box Enpower PC. (PC Club's US based brand) I found the executables and dumped them into an .RAR file. They have the MD5 of: 556da8db3d708bb2aaf85c8c1a025003

I'm really curious if anyone could take a look at them and find any info as to where it originally came from.. and what specifically the malware does. If they're mass producing these PCs it's likely that the same malware is on hundreds/thousands of other machines that people are going to be picking up for Christmas this year.

How exactly do you know that it is a keylogger?

If there was an antivirus that alerted you, unless you have done so you really should contact the manufactorer and let them know about it.

keylogger

There are 3 executables in the .rar file, one of them AVG Anti-Spyware identified as a Keylogger. Something called info.exe also is related to the 3 executables and infected the Recycled folder on my memory stick I was using to transfer the .rar file. I cannot find this file on the box anywhere though and it disappeared from my memory stick.. ?!?

I did call up PC Club and they informed me they'd "check in to it" and I haven't heard back from them yet. They were like "oh those are probably just tracking cookies", and I was like "uhh.. no not really".

AntiVir deleted these dangerous files, in every case if you're unsure on a file, submit it to VirusTotal.com
